Good evening, Yesterday's flash flooding on the southern end of the County has impacted students and their families. If you have a Calhoun County Schools' student in your household that was effected with the need for clean up or basic needs, please contact Destiney Montgomery,Psychsocial Coordinator with MHHS and Calhoun County Schools at destiney.murphy@mhhs.healthcare. Mrs Montgomery will be working with Communities in Schools staff, Calhoun FRN, and the Office of Emergency Services to broker supports for families.

Bus 11 is running 20-30min late due to a mechanical issue.

Lifetouch school photo update. Elementary student families can throw out the form to order pictures previously sent home. Lifetouch will be adjusting prices and sending new order forms with corrected prices soon. If you have already sent payment to school we will return it home Monday evening.

It was brought to our attention there is a possible mistake with the prices for the Elementary Lifetouch pictures. Lifetouch is recommending that Elementary families hold off on payment until they can look farther into the issue.

Preschool Open House. Friday, August 25th. 2:00 to 4:00. One more chance to meet the teachers and explore the classroom before school starts Monday, Aigust 28th!

We are excited to welcome our 1st and 3rd Graders back to school tomorrow! (Thursday, August 17th). For those of you that are not at school on Thursday or Friday due to the staggered start, we have a project we would like you to complete. Kindergarten, 2nd & 4th graders will need to complete on Thursday and bring back to school on Friday. 1st and 3rd Graders will need complete and return back to school on Monday. On one sheet of paper please complete the following. Kindergarten & 1st Graders - Write your name and birthday at the top of the sheet. Then write 3 WORDS that describe yourself. Lastly, draw a picture of yourself at the bottom of the sheet. 2nd, 3rd and 4th graders - Write your name and birthday at the top of the sheet. Then write 3 SENTENCES that describe yourself. Last, draw a picture of yourself at the bottom of the sheet. Bring these back to school when listed above and we will make our school TEAM (Together Everyone Achieves More) wall to go along with our Mission Statement!

We have spaces available for Save The Children 3-5 program(Parent-Child Group). This is an absolutely AMAZING program for families with children ages 3-5 !! We are fortunate to have this program available Calhoun County. This is my 6th year and I'm so excited about this program and how it's able to promote early language and literacy in our youth!!!! We are now offering monthly Early Education Empowerment workshop for PARENTS. Please, call Pleasant Hill Elementary or Arnoldsburg Elementary School to speak to Debra Smith, KRA further if you are interested in learning more or may know someone that would be a benfit from the program!!!

Kindergarten Readiness Group location and times. I will be set up Tuesday at Arnoldsburg Park at the event Minnie Hamilton is hosting from 5 to 6 p.m. 🟥Friday: Arnoldsburg Elementary School starting at 1 p.m Save the Children has an opportunity for children and families in Calhoun County! We offer weekly Parent Child Groups throughout the county. The focus of these groups will be Kindergarten Readiness Skills for children 3 to 5 years old. During the weekly Parent Child Groups, we will be exploring the following Language, Literacy and Math Kindergarten Readiness skill areas: Knowing about the alphabet, books and print; talking and listening; understanding words and sounds; numbers, counting, patterns, sorting and classification; comparison, measurement and geometry. These are all critical skills that your child needs in order to be prepared for Preschool and Kindergarten. I look forward to meeting you and helping prepare your child for school success!

As we are getting ready for the 2023/24 school year I would like to share a few reminders with you. Immunizations need to be up to date for all new enterers this includes PK and K. Immunizations for 7th and 12th graders need to be up to date this includes the TDap and Menectra requirements. If your student requires an emergency medication ( this includes but is not limited to inhalers, seizure meds, epi pens and glucagon) I need to have the order from your health care provider and the medication in hand on or before the first day of school. It is a safety issue for your student for these medications/orders to not be on hand. I will be available at the back to school bash if you have any questions or want to bring medications for CMHS to me. School based health has been available for immunizations please call 354-9732 or your regular health care provider to make an appointment if necessary. Join our Early Steps to Kindergarten Readiness groups.

The Columbus Zoo Field Trip is expected to return back at CCMHS at 8:45 PM. We will update if anything changes.

NO Early Steps to Kindergarten Readiness (PARENT CHILD GROUPS) WILL BE HELD THE WEEK OF JULY 10TH THROUGH JULY 14TH. There however will be 2 Story walks set up the week of July 8 through 17 for everyone to use. One will be on the walking track @Pleasant Hill Elementary School. The 2nd will be around the walking track @Arnoldburg Park. Tag Debra Dawson-Smith, showing you and your child/children using the story walks. **Pictures are for example. They are not set up in front of the courthouse.
